Every illustration and publication has an intention.
Every line and every word carefully selected to contribute to the collective racist consciousness of this country.
We are what we consume and as a country have been force fed these horrific representations of Our First Nations People since the first white sails arrived.
The intention of every illustration, comic and graphic was to dehumanise Us.
To create a narrative for white people to remove any empathy that they may have for Us.
So that when We are victims of violence and murder at the hands of the oppressors, they stay silent.
So why would the @thewestaustralian continue to choose to publish this?
This is why representation matters. Diversify your feeds and be aware of what you consume.
You only know what you’ve been taught, so diversify the people that teach you.
I’m not telling you what to think just to understand why you think the things you do.
